Lacanian studies. Seminar: What do we call the Real?
Pierre Naveau proposed teaching with this title in the premises of the SCD of Paris between November 2012 and June 2013. Throughout the year he developed with finesse the concept of the "Real" invented by Jacques Lacan. There were a series of working sessions which aimed to build the path to the Congress of the WAP: "A real for the 21st century". The challenge of such meetings, said Pierre Naveau, "can be picked up from what Jacques-Alain Miller proposed in his presentation of the subject of the next Congress of the WAP:" What does the unconscious interpret? To answer this question, you must introduce a word. This word is "the Real". Drives, and, specifically, the so called ‘’escopic’’ drive, were the theme of the first meeting of the series. Pierre Naveau proposed as the axis of this work the following assertion: By chance did Lacan not write, in his brief text entitled On Freud's Trieb and the Psychoanalytic Desire?: ‘’drives are our myths’’, Freud said. It should not be understood as a reference to the Unreal. It is the real what they mythologize, the ordinary of the myths (...)."? (Écrits-Writings-, p. 830).
