Trieste, Gateway to Psychoanalysis in Italy
During 2013 the team of the Library of the ECF organised a series entitled "The Gateways of Psychoanalysis". We shall bring to you a selection of stops in this journey organised by the team* with its chair, Sophie Gayard. First stop: Italy. "Trieste, a border town, a city torn by wars and invasions. Languages, cultures and religions intersect in Trieste, where psychoanalysis entered Italy in the twenties, after the Great War. It was thanks to a singular man, Edouardo Weiss, that Trieste became the first Italian city where the winds of psychoanalysis began to blow, influencing intellectuals at the turn of the century..."
