On Thursday February 12th 2015, the Second Encounter of the Cycle’ ’Who knows James Joyce? took place. On this occasion the film The Dead was shown in its original subtitled version. After the screening, a colloquium was held, coordinated by Sergio Larriera with the participation of Professors Constanza del Río y Bárbara Arizti from Zaragoza University, who had previously done an introduction to the film, as to James Joyce’s story ‘’The dead’’, before the screening.
At this colloquium, the stress was on the different moments which mark the protagonist unease, Gabriel, pointed out in the meeting-failed meeting with three women, up to the final epiphany which closes the story masterfully. Working together on the story and the film allowed to emphasize the lights and shadows of both of them, the way in which Joyce and Huston leads us from so different formats, to the final crescendo.
