Ferocious mothers, good mothers and stepmothers
Mónica Torres takes us for a ride through the world of children's stories. Tales, which she tells us, marked her history as a reader when she was a child. On this ride, the common thread is the maternal ferocity. A trait Mónica Torres extracts from tale to tale with the ease that only great readers have. In Snow White’s tale she extracts the phrase: "there is only one place to be the most beautiful of the kingdom" which marks the rivalry between the stepmother and the girl. From Cinderella’s story she extracts an essential question that explains the hatred between the sisters: "Who is the mother’s favorite?". And in Little Red Riding Hood she shows us that the devouring ferocity is not necessarily that of the Wolf’s... Mónica Torres is a psychoanalyst in Buenos Aires, AME member of the EOL and the WAP. She is a teacher at the Clinical Institute of Buenos Aires and for the Master in "The Psychoanalytical Clinic" from UNSAM. She is responsible for the Research Department on the Family (EOL) and Editorial Director of ‘’Enlaces’’ ("Links") journal. Edition: Vanessa Sudreau and Omaïra Meseguer.
